British Kashmiri diaspora holds massive protest in UK’s Bradford, raises PoJK human rights concerns

Bradford (UK), Aug 06 2026 (ANI): Members of the British Kashmiri diaspora staged massive demonstration in Bradford on August 5. The protesters expressed solidarity with the people of PoJK, voicing support for the demands of the Joint Awami Action Committee. Protesters carried banners and placards, calling for the protection of fundamental rights, civil liberties and human dignity. Organisers said the rally was aimed at drawing int’l attention to what they described as the deteriorating human rights situation in PoJK. Speakers at the protest alleged that security operations in PoJK had resulted in civilian casualties, widespread fear affecting local communities. They also highlighted that women, children and elderly residents are among those adversely affected in PoJK. Participants called for impartial investigations to probe excessive use of force, house raids and other reported human rights violations. They urged the authorities to ensure accountability and uphold the rule of law. The demonstrators also appealed to the int’l community, human rights organisations and the British govt to closely monitor developments in PoJK. Protection of fundamental freedoms and promotion of a peaceful resolution were the demands raised by demonstrators in UK. Pakistani security forces have been unleashing grave atrocities over residents of PoJK amid protests in recent months. People in PoJK are demanding an end to Pakistan’s control over the forcefully occupied territory. They are urging greater role by int’l community in ensuring accountability and safeguarding the lives and rights of the local population.
