Neeraj Chopra stands victorious at inaugural NC Classic 2025 with 86.18m throw

Bengaluru, July 5, 2025 (ANI):Two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra took the top honours in the inaugural edition of the Neeraj Chopra Classic, a competition named after him at Sri Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday. The reigning javelin throw champion stood triumphant with 86.18m in a competition named after him. Kenya's Julius Yego notched up his season best and settled for second with 84.51m. Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage claimed the third position with a best throw of 84.34m. On the World Championship, Ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra said, "It is the biggest competition of this year and we won gold last time in the World Championship. We will work hard to defend that title, and we have to work hard for that. Now I will prepare for the World Championship." On winning the Neeraj Chopra (NC) Classic in Bengaluru, he said, "It was good... I am happy with my performance. I could have thrown a better throw, but today we did not have the conditions. Still, it feels very good that the competition was very good..."
