Karnataka Election Results 2023: Counting of votes begins

Bengaluru, May 13 (ANI): The counting of votes for the Karnataka Assembly elections began on May 13. Polling was held across 58,545 polling stations to elect the members in the 224-seat Karnataka Assembly. The majority mark needed to form the government is 113. According to Election Commission, Karnataka recorded a 73.19 pc voter turnout in assembly elections. With over 73.19 pc polling, Karnataka recorded highest-ever voter turnout. As per exit polls, Congress is expected to have a clear edge in the state. Some exit polls have given Congress a full majority and some predicted a hung assembly. However, BJP leaders have denounced the exit polls, expressing confidence in retaining power with majority. Regional player JD(S) is expected to play a crucial role as third party, according to exit polls. No pre-poll alliances were announced by any of the three parties.
