Phivolcs said the tectonic earthquake struck at 10:30 a.m., with its epicenter located about 3 kilometers north of Pugo town.
The earthquake was caused by a shift in the earth's crust rather than volcanic activity. The tremor was recorded at a magnitude of 4 in Pugo and Tubao (La Union province), as well as in Baguio City, where the shaking was described as quite strong.
