Michigan [US], April 30: At a rally in Michigan on the morning of April 30 (Vietnam time), US President Donald Trump mentioned a series of major economic victories in the first 100 days of his second term.
The rally took place in Michigan, the heart of the U.S. auto industry and the largest event hosted by President Trump since taking office on Jan. 20, according to Reuters on April 30.
"We have had the largest economy in the history of our country," Mr. Trump said of his first presidential term from 2017-2021. "We have done great things, and we are doing better," Reuters quoted the current White House host.
Trump once again criticized US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell for not doing his job well as head of the US central bank.
In addition, President Trump also announced that in the next few weeks or months, Washington will pass the largest tax cut package in US history, whereby there is no tax on tips, no social security tax, no tax on overtime.
The leader also mentioned the executive order he had just signed aboard an Air Force One plane on his way to Michigan. Accordingly, a company will not face both a 25% tariff on imported cars and a 25% tariff on imported iron and aluminum. For imported auto parts, U.S. auto assemblers can deduct 3.75 percent from the list price of the vehicle in the first year, and 2.5 percent in the second year.
At the rally, Trump emphasized that the tariffs will bring new life to Michigan's economy. He also mentioned tariffs with China.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed to CNBC that the U.S. has reached a trade deal with a foreign economy.
Speaking briefly to the rally, Mr. Trump appreciated his administration's priority on investment in defense as well as foreign policy in his first term.
"I will support a record $1 trillion investment in the defense sector," Trump told a team of military personnel at Selfridge National Guard Air Force Base, Michigan, in the presence of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
President Trump said the base will receive 21 F-15X fighters, the latest version of the F-15E Strike Eagle family.
