More than 40 people injured as train derails in north-western France

Paris [France], September 13: At least 44 people were injured, including one woman seriously, when part of a regional train carrying around 180 passengers derailed between Rouen and Caen in north-western France on Friday evening, broadcaster BFMTV reported, citing the prefect.
The train collided with an as yet unidentified object, according to the broadcaster. One carriage overturned and four others came off the tracks. French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot had initially said around 20 people were injured. The accident occurred at around 7:30 pm (1730 GMT), prompting a large-scale emergency response. (DPA)
