Hezbollah member killed in Israeli drone strike in S. Lebanon

Aug 09, 2025

Beirut [Lebanon], August 9: A Hezbollah member was killed on Friday morning in an Israeli drone strike targeting a vehicle in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese sources.
The Public Health Emergency Operations Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Public Health, said in a statement that the Israeli drone strike targeted the Zahrani road in the Nabatieh district, leading to one death.
A Lebanese security source told Xinhua that the dead was a Hezbollah member named Mohammad Shehadeh, from the town of Adloun.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Health on Friday released an updated report on the casualties of a Thursday Israeli drone strike on the Masnaa road, eastern Lebanon, raising the death toll from five to six and putting the injuries unchanged at 10.
The security source told Xinhua that Abu Khalil Washah, a commander in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a Palestinian faction, was targeted and killed along with his escort during the Thursday drone strike.
Since Nov. 27, 2024, a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States and France has been in effect between Hezbollah and Israel, putting an end to clashes that had erupted in the wake of the war in Gaza.
Despite the agreement, the Israeli army occasionally carries out strikes in Lebanon, claiming they are meant to eliminate "threats" posed by Hezbollah.
